National Sugar Cookie Day

A huge THANK-YOU to Emily over at Sugar and Meringue for the very kind invitation to join in today! I am somewhat in awe of the bakers in this group but none-the-less, any excuse to bake is fine by me! Being a busy mum I have doubled up. The beautiful boy finally finishes school this week for the long summer holiday! Hurrah! I always like to send in iced biscuits for the children in his class to enjoy at the end of term, so my subject was chosen with this in mind. We have recently been very interested in the Mexican 'Day of the Dead' Sugar Skulls. They are a wonderful compromise between a boys' love of all things pirate and my need for all things pretty!
I have been working on this theme on a number of Embroideries and now I have iced biscuits, or, should I say, Sugar Cookies!
I hope you like them. More importantly I hope the children in class like them!
Some of them are smily but they're all very pretty. Boys don't really mind if it tastes good do they?! There are only two girls in the class so maybe they'll have to eat more!
I'm looking forward to seeing all the Sugar Cookie Day creations! There are some very talented bakers in the group. Well done Emily!
Now, I'm off to visit a friend in her new home which is very exciting. She has ordered yards and yards of blue bunting. I hope she likes it!
The skulls are all packed up ready to be eaten up tomorrow morning!
Happy National Sugar Cookie day! t.x

Those are the cutest skull cookies ever - if you can make a skull look cute, you've really got talent! "Biscuit" sounds ever so much better than cookie, too!
