Old fashioned friendships

I have pondered recent news scares about online relationships, the loss of the art of social interaction. I have reached the conclusion that these moaning minnies are clearly not participating in the world of blogging that I inhabit. I have been privilleged enough to meet a few bloggy ladies now and always I have thoroughly enjoyed the warmth of their company. I get a huge sense of happiness that this strange soup called blogger has enabled me to meet like minded and creative individuals. And today was exceptional. Cake was eaten....Orange and Almond (and the jury is out as to whether this one will make it into my recipe book). Pretty gifts were exchanged..I made this for my friend...
and look what pretties she found to add to my collection! So beautiful!
Even the beautiful boy received a perfect gift and already he and daddy are planning which model to test first!
Can you guess who came to visit Norfolk today? Want a clue?
Ok so thats fairly obvious isn't it! The lovely Mr and Mrs Custard came down our way and we hope very much they'll be back soon for a longer stay! But before then Mrs Custard has far more important things to do!
I feel sure this event, the second Vintage and Handmade Fair organised by Michele and Jayne, will be a huge success. Lucky you if you live close enough to go along for some jolly shopping. Have a bun and a cuppa for me! I so wish I could be there!
Once our guests left us the beautiful boy and I had chores to do in town. Of course this is always an excuse to check out our favourite charity shops and the beautiful boy fell in love...
...with a HUGE tapestry picture of ships and seagulls and waves crashing on the rocks. (sorry, tricky to get a picture without reflections on the glass!). It's very kitsch. I loved it too and at the weekend we will have a shuffle around to find a space for it on his bedroom wall.
I found this lovely Finnish honey pot and snazzy metal tray....
and a few books with jolly summertime pictures.
All in all a perfect day.
Now, have you noticed what happens tomorrow?! Well, yes, we have the lovely journalist coming to visit for a chat and that's going to be such fun! Another virtual contact made real! But also, tomorrow is my blogiversary! There will certainly be cake! Cake and more. Do stop by and say hello! t.xx

How lovely - all of it, from the friends to the cake to the goodies. I agree that blog friendships are very special - I may be able to meet up with another English blogger in France this summer and I have already appreciated her support. I was on a discussion/advice forum once and it was NOT the same. People were competitive and sometimes agressive in the unreal atmosphere. Blogging is much more like real life and very positive. Have a great day tomorrow!

I've been thinking of making SIMPLE button necklaces with my craft club at school.... is the beautiful blue one that you have been given made with a length of 'ribbon' with the buttons sewn on??? i'm intrigued on the simplest but most effective way of making one!

Glad you all had fun.

How wonderful!
It's great to put a name to a face, isn't it?!
I've met Mrs Custard a few times now..she is great company.
Glad she made it to your neck of the woods.
;-)
What a lovely, postive post. I don't know how I stumbled onto/into blogging, but it has been a wonderful experience. I have laughed often, learned a lot and "met" some wonderful people. Thanks for your comments on my blog. My, but that cake looked good. Am going to the Vintage Fair on Saturday and then on to work, so might just have to partake of cake before I leave the Fair (for energy of course ;O)) x

Hi T!
SOOOO glad that you and the lovely Mrs.C had such a perfect encounter! You two have so much in common, was there any doubt that the visit wouldn't be a complete delight?!

So glad to see that BB has developed such exceptional taste! The tapestry is gorgeous and perfect for his blue bedroom.
(Yes, and you did well too, as usuual! ;-))

Will try to pop back tomorrow, but Mum will be here as of today and we will be packing the car for the V&H on Friday.
Hope the interview goes well.

Love Niki x
Sounds like a lovely blogger meeting to me!! I'm so sad I can't travel to the fair this weekend.

Even though I have had my time with weirdos due to blogging (vile messages and threats - from people I haven't met) I shall keep meeting up with blogland that I feel bonded with. Because of course people you meet in 'real' life can be as nuts, if not more nuts as people you meet online.

I've met a few people from blogging that are local to me and two of them have become really close friends now.

So glad that your meet went well. The cake looks delish!
Good luck with the journalist.
And Happy Blogiversary!

I think I have had the wrong end of the stick and thought you would be at the Fair! I'm losing the plot, good and proper. So I'm sorry that you won't be there.
Wonderful finds, your house must be a treasure trove. You have such a good eye. Oh and that cake, it looks delicious.
All the best for your Journalist's visit tomorrow.
It's a different time, isn't it?

Happy blogoversary!
Hello T... we have finally landed!
I am so dense.. I couldn't understand why you were looking for a custard tin yesterday.. I think I was deep in holiday mode and had switched off that useful part of my brain!
It was such a delight to meet you and your gorgeous little boy.. he is definitely a Christopher Robin and boy does this world need more CR's!!!!
I knew that you would be such a lovely lady to meet..call it a woman's intuition but I do believe the friends I have had the good fortune to meet on my blog journey have been some of the closest friends I have yet made..
The cake was scrumptious.. the gifts were so generous and your company was warm and welcoming and the highlight of our hols.. I could gush for several more paragraphs about your sublime home.. but you know how I feel about that one!
Thanks T...

P.s I can see your boy has inherited his Mum's good taste.. Kitsch rules!

I've come to think of my blogger friends as my "ideal" friends. They're the one's who are positive, encouraging, friendly, supportive, and that goes a long way! I love the blogosphere!

Oh how lovely...I would ove to meet you both! I love the pressies that you got each other...your button necklace is lovely.....have a lovely sunday...H
Hi Teena -

Michele wore her gorgeous necklace on Saturday at the Fair. I was going to comment on it's loveliness but there was just so little time for chatting.

I'm sure you had a wonderful time. Mrs C is lovely and as you're a friend of Niki's you must be, too!!!

I had a pair of gardening gloves like those in your post on 26 May. Do your fingers turn green when you wear them? Mine did!
