Excuse my halo!

No I have not been to a field sale...
No, not a jumble sale.....
I didn't 'accidentally' buy a few boxes at the local auction house......
Oh no I didn't, honest!
And I haven't been on a shopping spree at a flea market....
nor in any Antiques centre.....
Oh no, I have been a very good girl....
None of these things are new arrivals....
I have been having a clear out! And tomorrow I am taking box loads of china and glass TO the auction house!
Oops, my halo just slipped ..... I shall be popping to my favourite field sale first!
Want to see a slightly disturbing photo? Today we went to the Castle and had huge fun with this.... rather silly of us but we did laugh a lot - people are so serious in museums don't you think? I'm all for loud laughter and silly faces! But I won't post the picture of the boy being a little girl with blonde plaits. Oh no. That wouldn't be kind in case any school friends see it. But it was very funny!
Still raining. Do we care? NO! It's the holidays! Just think of all the money we're saving on sunscreen! t.xxx

OH NO!!!!
Some of these things are really lovely, except for the Celery Man. I've got one of those and so has my Nan, I still can't really understand what it's about. I love the Red Rose plate.

How brave you are! I find clearing out so very hard ... it's why I opened the shop I suppose and even then I go into denial about some stuff and have to hang onto it for weeks until I can face selling it ... sad old bat I know:(

Wow! They're all so lovely! It must be hard to part with them, even if it is to make room for new treasures.

Are you telling us you now have enough china and glass and won't ever need to buy any more???

You do a good job hiding all that stuff, because I bet that's only gently scratching the surface. The glasses and the minty green glass dish gave me a tingle. Loverly.

This is funny... reminds me of my mum - we used to rib her for car booting every weekend and then having to hold a car boot at least once a year to clear out again! I love the strategy... constantly upgrading.

Funny last photo! I know what you mean! I think it is great you are having a clear out - we have been having a clear out since I can last remember - every time I go home to my mum's we do a carboot. Auction house is another matter - I am keen to investigate one of those as we have a rather old antique serving trolley...how do they work? Do you just turn up with your stuff? Any tips would be much appreciated! xxx

Is that pink pressed glass I see? Love pressed glass.... I always keep a look out on the rare occasions I go to an antiques centre or somewhere like that. Such a good woman you are, parting with stuff like that, but it does us good to have a clear out now and then... and just think of all the space you will now have to fill with... well, new stuff!

I don't know how you picked out the stuff to clear out... I have trouble getting rid of ANYTHING. Packratitis, you see.

Mmmm Teena! I have a sneaky suspicion this clear out is just to make space for newly acquired goodies. You see, I'm not that easily misled!!!!!!!!!
Of course, I imagine it works beautifully on husbands, doesn't it?! of course, some people do this with shoes don't they? If they buy a new pair, they have to get rid of an old pair. Which is very sensible. But I'm not at that sensible stage yet! You have obviously reached that sensible stage, well done! Have lots of fun buying things at the auction!
Love Vanessa xxx (do you mind if i knit)

You're getting RID of crockery?
Are you sure you're ok? Do you need a sit down and a cup of tea?!

I love a clear out from time to time (especially if it means I can fill the freed up space with more goodies).

I've never taken anything to an auction before but It seems more sensible for breakables than listing them on eBay which is what I usually do.

Are you sure you want to get rid of that pretty dinner set with the girl? The bad celery man has cast a spell and making you do this. He is a bad vegie head, don't listen to him, get rid of him! how did he get in your lot anyway?! LOL....
Miss Mary said…
where are they going? Some of us need to know to bid!!

Oh dear, should you really have told us this BEFORE you took it all to the sale? Reading these comments would make me put it all back in the cupboard! Well done for the clear out though, you know it makes sense!
I'm glad you feel so virtuous! I'm aiming for that...
But... the red rose plate ...the girl with the gramophone... (Squeaks pitifully)
Maybe you should have sold them on your blog! LOL!

I love your button background!

How very virtuous you are! If I were nearere though, I'd be bidding on some of those treasures!
How exactly does one accidentally buy boxes of china at auction.. or did I miss something???
You do know there are self help groups for this kind of obsession don't you..
I think it is called Crockaholics Anonymous!

P.s Ta v much for the thumbs up about the emporium!!
What an impressive clear-out. I was going to ask if you needed more English Rose cabinets (we have several at Dairy House) but obviously having removed said items you won't need more storage space!

I am absolutely smitten with the dishes embellished with the girl on the park bench... if only I could travel from the nw corner of the US to your local auction house!

Hello

I have just come across your blog and been thoroughly enjoying a good read. I notice in one of your posts you were sending some stuff to auction. One of the items, I believe was a 'sweet sixteen' dining set or something (young girl in blue pattern). I have the teapot and am hunting for the rest! Any ideas where it may have ended up?

Many thanks
