Well the year is definitely springing along here! I am thankful the
cold snap is over. The log store was getting low and, well, it was COLD!
We had a heartfelt February with a Valentines' breakfast for the boy, and lots of folding and colouring secretive loveliness.
Some beautiful crisp long walks over the half term, and a new Nature Reserve enjoyed at Wheatfen, home of Teena Vallerinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07321578309574367426noreply@blogger.com44tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7148847397634324094.post-89890089604759095352012-02-05T22:29:00.003+01:002012-02-05T23:17:52.558+01:00Changing perspectives.Well, ahem! Yes, there have been a few changes around here. I have simplified, much like in life. Back to the essentials. Deciding what's important. Not to put too fine a point on it... clearing out!
It is fun to take car loads to the charity shops, to send precious bits and pieces to friends who will gain pleasure from a surprise parcel, to make decisions about displaying my absolute favouriteTeena Vallerinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07321578309574367426noreply@blogger.com28tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7148847397634324094.post-75499942487772004172011-12-20T01:12:00.002+01:002013-09-07T18:55:13.906+02:00Whoops! Another Year!Well, needless to say time has quickly passed and life has moved on at a pace I have been chasing to keep up. I am just popping in to say 'Hello'! Once again thank you all for your kind messages. We are here and the year has been kind. And now we are snuggling into our home for our second Christmas.
There have been many highlights this year, perhaps most special to me was to take one veryTeena Vallerinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07321578309574367426noreply@blogger.com30tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7148847397634324094.post-70477090265822958562011-06-04T01:51:00.000+02:002011-06-04T01:51:37.296+02:00Hexie Heaven!Bertha's garden continues to amaze us with so many jewels now the Roses have joined the party. Every day brings a new marvel! Thank-you all so much for all the wonderful flower stories. We enjoyed reading them all so much! In the end we just couldn't choose one so we popped you all into a salad bowl (I know, we're still unpacking and things are very disorganised!) and out came Kitsch and Curious Teena Vallerinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07321578309574367426noreply@blogger.com26tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7148847397634324094.post-37699629528539447102011-05-07T13:01:00.001+02:002011-05-09T18:53:47.585+02:00Books and FlowersWe picked you some flowers from Bertha's garden. We have been so delighted that every week a new jewel has appeared. Bertha lived here for most of her long life and her garden is a gift she has left for us to enjoy. We have had Snowdrops, Aconites, Bluebells, Tulips, Forget-me-not, Lilac and the blossom snow from the Cherry trees was breath-taking.

That's me! I am happy to say we did make it home for Christmas... just! With a few days to spare. So, if you don't mind me catching up on myself here is my home for Christmas post, in February!
I know. You're all over Christmas now. So I'll be quick!

It has not been a fun time. However, this is my happy space so I am here to say I shall be back soon as things are finally getting to a point where we can move back home! But first lots of this...
Ugh!
In the meantime you can occasionally find me here if you would like to chat!

It still makes us laugh but we decided to change it to fit us better ...
We've been trying to keep up with our first harvest - at least the harvest we were left after the Rooks and Jackdaws had their fill! These are English Walnuts also known as 'Wet walnuts' - and we have been trying to work out the best way to dry them. The Good Homes article is out and Hazel and Brent have created a lovely tribute to the old house, although it is very odd to read about it now.

In a village close to where we used to live the fair comes to town for one weekend every Autumn. Whilst at Hotel Grandma we are doing much the same school run as before and the beautiful boy and I were both delighted to see the first caravans appearing on the church green! This is no nostalgic vintage fairground with piped organ music and Teena Vallerinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07321578309574367426noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7148847397634324094.post-90472875528526984962010-09-21T18:54:00.012+02:002010-10-04T17:30:35.722+02:00News from Limbo The beautiful boy and I are still at Hotel Grandma and whilst Grandma has earned her sainthood putting up with our mess and disruption we are both more than ready to be settling into our new home now; just a couple more weeks and we should be there!
Life continues to race along on it's up and down roller coaster and if I'm honest, this week I'm not much enjoying the ride. Me? Not a hope.
So, I think I said I'd show you the garden. Well, as you can imagine - with pipes being laid and drains being moved it's all a bit of a mess but I managed to find some pretties for you.
Of course I took them all close up to avoid nasty skips and pallets full of building materials creeping into shot! The garden is very well stocked with lots of plants I can't name and a Teena Vallerinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07321578309574367426noreply@blogger.com17tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7148847397634324094.post-15712544325960122612010-08-28T17:49:00.004+02:002010-08-28T17:59:00.846+02:00Out and away and all over the place! We didn't mean to be away so long. No, really, we didn't. We've been so busy with the long summer in spite of the grim wet weather.
Freezing early mornings at the coast ... the birds have long since known it's Autumn - We've said our goodbyes to the Swifts and Swallows! There has a been a bit of Hero worship on the beach...

Saturday was an exciting day! As promised the Guardian Travel supplement Seaside Special was published, and there, alongside the words of many people I admire, were 200 words on my seaside! Why? How?

I love the way the inks sit on the surface of the paper making the texture three-dimensional....
So many variations of one pretty motif....
