Ahoy there!

When the man o' war or merchant ship comes sailing into port
The jolly tar with joy, will sing out loud, Land Ahoy!
With his pockets full of money and a parrot in a cage
He smiles at all the pretty girls upon the landing stage...
All the nice girls love a sailor
all the nice girls love a tar
For there's something about a sailor
(Well you know what sailors are!)
Bright and breezy, free and easy,
He's the ladies' pride and joy!
He falls in love with Kate and Jane, then he's off to sea again,
Ship ahoy! Ship ahoy!
He will spend his money freely, and he's generous to his pals,
While Jack has got a sou, there's half of it for you,
And it's just the same in love and war, he goes through with a smile,
And you can trust a sailor, he's a right man all the while!
All the nice girls love a sailor
All the nice girls love a tar
For there's something about a sailor
(Well you know what sailors are!)
Bright and breezy, free and easy,
He's the ladies' pride and joy!
He falls in love with Kate and Jane, then he's off to sea again,
Ship ahoy! Ship ahoy!

I have really enjoyed hand-quilting and binding these Sailor's Sweethearts. It seems to bring the embroidery to life.
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. t.x

There gorgeous and such beautiful colours. I far prefer quilting in embroidery floss for the very same reason.

Oh my goodness, my mum used to sing this song to me - with a gleam in her eye - I think she was implying that said sailor was a slightly saucy type. You've made me smile this evening!

These little hearts are wonderful, and the ships themselves remind me of William de Morgan tiles. I love the detail on their sails.

Thank-you everyone.
Aneela - I think you should sing it on youtube and claim it for your very own song! t.x

SP - I thought all sailors were saucy! t.x

CC - brave girl - the outcome is so helpful! t.x

C&B - sing it any way you want honey! I leave the calpol for the boy - I prefer to mix my nurofen with wine! t.x
Ship Ahoy indeed.. Hello T.... I feel like I have been sailing the high seas recently.. bit sea sick with it all!
Now what delightful scenes you have set before us.. and very nautical too!
There must be something in the air as I have just finished my latest Ship Shape box frame.. with little sailor boy in tow...He is definitely saucy.

How goes it down yonder?

So pretty - I love how you combine fabrics and colors in unexpected ways. The blue flower on the pink sail makes me happy just looking at it.
