Are you bored yet? This is very lazy of me but I'm having such a busy week it's all I can manage and since I've been so neglectful I thought I'd better do something rather than nothing! I promise to make it up to you for my blogiversary! (Does anyone know how to spell that properly??).
So, today I have decided to pop through to the dining room.
I love this room. It faces North East so is a wonderfully sunny morning room and in the evening it's a really cosy place to be.
It's a very traditional room, in complete contrast to the kitschen right next door!It is full of hand-me-down furniture and with that comes many many happy memories of long lunches and family celebrations.
At Christmas and Easter we have an extra leaf which we add to the centre of the table and it becomes big enough for everyone to sit around comfortably, alternatively it's a superb place for the train set to be!
We have lots of glass in here. I can never resist an old decanter, I love the way they dance the light around the room. Some I have picked up for as little as 20p... albeit they are a little chipped! One particular favourite has a tinker repair which involves a lump of lead moulded into the base! Not sure I fancy keeping the best Single Malt in that one!
And Marbles. I love those little airtwist marbles. So much skill and craftsmanship being poured into something that the beuatiful boy's great grandpa then smashed around the playground with his friends... they have the dings to prove it!
The little chair was made from a champagne cork at our wedding. Tiny treasures.
I made this sampler of our wedding menu and the smaller picture is one of the many invitations I hand embroidered! That will be in the days before a baby to be sure! The eagle eyed will notice we have been married 10 years and yet we celebrated 20 years in April. 10 in sin, 10 in wedlock. We count them all!
I am especially fond of the curtains in here. Not least because they do such a good job of cutting the draughts from the oak window! I was lucky enough to pick up 7 curtains of various sizes for under £10! Four of them I used for this window. I removed the old lining and re-lined them inserting my favourite puffy interliner for extra draughtproofing!
One of the other curtains was recently used to cover a couple of old balloon backs.
I find the fabric breath-taking every time I look at it. It's like having a summer garden all year around!
Back again soon. I must work now and stop being distracted by the fact that there is sunshine pouring in through the workroom window! t.xx

I love the colour and quirky'ness' - is that a word!?! of it and all your bits and bobs - a very well loved and welcoming home indeed.
Have a lovely day,

ps. my face was so red raw from the blasting sand and then salt water it was too painful to rub anything in so most definitely a cup of tea was called for when we got home! Who needs fancy beauty products? 'phooey to that'
