Well I promised to share our day trip and my what a trip it was. House heaven. In the summer I am very excited to be attending the Midsummer Fayre at Voewood and the beautiful boy and I were lucky enough to go on a house tour over the Easter break...
This beautifully restored Arts and Crafts home is built on a butterfly plan......
and inside butterflies are a bit of a recurring theme too....
I'll let you pop over to the website if you want to find out more about the history of the architecture. For me our visit was all about the wonderful eclectic home that has been created by Simon Finch and Annabel Grey. Annabel is also responsible for the interior at one of my other favourite places, Wiveton Hall Farm Cafe....
Every room was a feast for the eyes and so this post is going to be more visual than factual because in many instances.... well......
there was so much to take in....
....every room was a gasp of pure joy.....
the detail and surface pattern was endlessly inspiring and breath-taking. The house has been lavished with hours upon hours of creativity the like of which I can only wish I had the application to achieve and quirky objects were to be found around every corner......
the beautiful boy has a current obsession with all things Natural History - and this includes skeletons and taxidermy... he was recently given a very old stuffed chaffinch.... after his Voewood inspirations he made this little home for it...
hmmm. I love the box more than the bird I think... but I did pop the little dear into the freezer for a bit so whatever was making him so tatty and moth-eaten has hopefully been dealt with...
I loved the red ground which really made the butterflies dance on this little display half hidden behind an armchair....
As our tour continued we worked our way around endless bedrooms, each one with a theme and a name... this is the patchwork room where the incredible wall painting took Annabel a year to complete....
and I can't remember if this was the button bathroom or a whether I've muddled two rooms together.... at some point it was all so much to take in I just went around in a daze of happiness!
I fell in love with this little clock... so simple it made me smile !
which even had it's own little kitschen...
I was tempted to move in and see how long it was before anyone noticed. The house is such a rabbit warren I thought I might manage a week or two before I was discovered! I could peer out of the top window and enjoy the views through leaded lights....
We so enjoyed our visit and came away thoroughly inspired and so excited about going back in the summer for the fayre...but for now we're home enjoying our own view through leaded lights....
although actually it's better from upstairs where I can see the garden finally coming to life! I am very hopeful the apple blossom will be fully out this weekend and that maybe this year it will be around a bit longer before the wind and rain do their worst!
My weekend started today with a trip over to see the lovely Mrs Bobobun for a bit of last minute Pick 'n' Mix planning. I was deeply confused by the additional pair of crocs by the door. Perhaps they have been quietly multiplying or perhaps one pair belongs to the fairies I am assured live at the top of their garden!
Mrs Bun and I are so excited about our second market and the wonderful group of makers who are coming to join in! We do hope you'll be able to visit if you're down our way for Whitsun weekend! Now, I have acres of giant bunting to make! t.x

and there was more taxidermy to be found in the kitchen.. and my oh my what a kitchen....
I was delighted to find a collection of china not dissimilar to my own... a bit of this, a bit of that... all mish mashed together.... bliss....As our tour continued we worked our way around endless bedrooms, each one with a theme and a name... this is the patchwork room where the incredible wall painting took Annabel a year to complete....

I fell in love with this little clock... so simple it made me smile !
and these are the buttons....
Even this little picture mosaic had me enchanted.
And in this bathroom the shell display felt a little like a home from home....
But I'm not sure I'd relax with this little crew watching me bathe....
But I do love these little shells displayed in their match boxes just like the ones at Glandford...The beautiful boy was particularly fond of the 'chill-out' room
and I loved this little Mary Poppins dormitory...which even had it's own little kitschen...
I was tempted to move in and see how long it was before anyone noticed. The house is such a rabbit warren I thought I might manage a week or two before I was discovered! I could peer out of the top window and enjoy the views through leaded lights....
but then someone promised tea and cakes on the terrace... well.... and of course even the teapots were beautiful...

and at the back of the house the 'view from here' is as breath-taking as ever....
Have a lovely long weekend everyone, whatever your view.My weekend started today with a trip over to see the lovely Mrs Bobobun for a bit of last minute Pick 'n' Mix planning. Love all the coloured crocs @ MrsBB's - our house has a heap of crocs but as its male dominated they are mainly sludge colours with my purple ones :)
All things nice...
Very much like the views from your house, too! Hoping that tree's flowers will last at least a week.
Cheers!
I also love Wiveton Cafe, in fact my pictures of it are some of my most popular on FlickR so it seems everyone else does as well!
xxxx
I chuckled at the blog name, and even more so when I read that you're in Norfolk. You see, I grew up in Norfolk, Massachusetts, USA, and my maiden name is Pink!
